Snowshoe Brewing Company

California

Has crafted a number of award-winning ales

Snowshoe Brewing Company was founded in 1995 by two longtime friends and business associates Jeff Yarnell and Al O'Brien. With Jeff's experience in restaurant management and Al's history as owner of a local pizza parlor, the friends had the winning combination to start their own brewpub and restaurant.

Jeff and Al found the perfect location for their new adventure, taking over the old Meadowmont Inn in Calaveras County's town of Arnold, California. They decided to name their brewery Snowshoe Brewing Company, saluting the pioneering spirit of John Snowshoe Thompson. Thompson was well known during the Gold Rush era in the mid 1800's, when he used to deliver mail and cross the treacherous Sierra Nevada Mountains - often in the dead of winter using his trusty homemade snowshoes.

Snowshoe Brewing Company has crafted a number of award-winning Ales and takes advantage of their 15-barrel brew house, three 15-barrel fermenters, and three 30-barrel fermenters in their Calaveras facility. The brewpub is also home to a full restaurant with a wide variety of appetizers, salads and main course selections...all created to pair with their line up of delicious craft beers.

Currently, Snowshoe produces five year round brews in addition to several seasonal and specialty offerings. Assisting Jeff and Al with the brew production is brew master Mike Hastings, who has crafted award-winning beers throughout California.
