Pike Brewing Company

Washington

Pike Brewing Company was founded by Charles Finkel and his family in 1989, in the historic Pike Place Public Market in Seattle, Washington. The small brewery

was originally called Pike Place Brewery, but was renamed in 1995 when the company moved to a larger facility outside the market.

Charles Finkel grew up in Oklahoma and during his youth enjoyed sipping on beers with his family (Oklahoma was a "dry"state until 1959, so only beers under 3.2% were legal). By his senior year in college, prohibition was over and Charles managed a local liquor store, which introduced him to many of the best beers and premium wines. A trip to Europe further exposed him to wonderful ales being brewed throughout England, Belgium, and Bavaria. He wanted to bring these beers home, and introduce them to the U.S. market.

Charles began as an importer of fine beers, working with some of the top European brands, before finally starting his own brewery,Pike Brewing Company, in 1989. The Finkels wanted the Pike beers to be of equal or better quality than any they had represented from Europe, and they favored styles that went well with food (especially the classic British brewing styles like Ales, Porters, Stouts, and Barley Wines). There was great anticipation among the brewing community as this little brewery took shape, and it did not disappoint.

Pike Brewing Company quickly became a top name in the Northwest Microbrew industry, and their craft beers continue to garner international recognition at major competitions. We hope you enjoy these special selections!
