Nationally recognized craft brews continuing to honor the rich history and heritage of the area

Old Dominion Brewing was founded in 1989 in Loudoun County of the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area. Considering the location and the historical significance of being one of the first breweries in Washington, D.C., the name Old Dominion seemed fitting for the new brewery.

The whitetail deer was selected for the brewery's symbol to represent Virginia's most noted species of wildlife, and to stand for Old Dominion Brewing's values of purity and pride. The brewery was founded by Jerry Bailey, who found his passion for brewing when his brother Tom gave him a homebrewing kit as a Christmas gift in 1978. After years of researching recipes and creating experimental brews, Jerry was ready to turn his hobby into a career.

When Old Dominion Brewing opened its doors in 1989 it was met with immediate success. Word spread throughout the D.C. area like wildfire and the brewery's loyal following continued to grow and soon became the craft beer of choice in many local pubs and restaurants. Old Dominion's amazing lineup of beers quickly began garnering medals at the Great American Beer Festival and in 1995, Fortune Magazine named Old Dominion One of the 50 Best Breweries in the U.S.

In 2007, Bill Muehlhauser acquired the brewery, and with Jerry's blessing, moved Old Dominion into a larger, state-of-the-art brewery in Dover, Delaware, where the company could continue crafting beers for its growing audience. Today, Dominion values its history and continues to brew fresh, high-quality, handcrafted beer that everyone can enjoy.
