Lazy Magnolia Brewing Company

Mississippi

Mississippi's first brewery offering locally-brewed craft beers

Lazy Magnolia Brewing Company was founded in the summer of 2004 by Mark and Leslie Henderson. Leslie had given her husband a home brewing kit for Christmas a few years prior, and the duo began making small batches of beer for family and friends. Their hobby quickly turned into a serious commitment. Leslie took over the reins as head brewer and Mark focused on designing new equipment, tools, and gadgets to make the brewing process as streamline as possible.

In 2003, Leslie entered the American Brewers Guild Brewing School and followed up her education with an apprenticeship at Crescent City Brewhouse the following spring. As Leslie worked on developing new craft beer recipes, Mark finalized their business plan, secured financing, and found a location for the company in Kiln, Mississippi. Their first batch of Lazy Magnolia craft beer was brewed in January of 2005, and the Hendersons haven't looked back since.

Both born and raised in Mississippi, Leslie and Mark Henderson each had their corporate start in engineering, but are happy they followed their hearts and now do something they truly enjoy.

Lazy Magnolia Brewing Company gets its name from the original site of the Hendersons' home brewing activities - on the back porch of their house under some late-blooming magnolia trees. The couple also embraces the "lazy" pace of life in the south - taking time to enjoy friends, food, the weather, and the good life on the back porch. We'll drink to that!
