Central City Brewers & Distillers
A major craft brewery in Western Canada offering award-winning craft beverages
Founded in 2003, Central City Brewers & Distillers began as a small brewpub in Surrey, BC, and today, has grown into one of the leading craft brewers in Western Canada. Named Brewery of the Year in both 2010 and 2012 at the Canadian Brewing Awards and the winner of dozens of medals from local and national beer competitions, Central City is a leader and innovator in the Canadian craft beer industry and doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon.
President/founder Darryll Frost and business partner/ brewmaster Gary Lohin have made an incredibly successful team, both bringing significant knowledge and experience to their joint venture. Darryll Frost was a seasoned food and beverage leader, bringing over 30 years of management experience, with a special emphasis on brewpubs. Gary Lohin was an expert in his field as well, with years of brewing experience at British Columbia’s Whistler Brewing Company and Okanagan Springs Brewery, as well as helping to establish Vancouver’s first brewpub in 1994. Together, they have made Central City a force to be reckoned with.
Central City’s signature beer, the Red Racer IPA (known as Red Betty IPA in the U.S.), is certainly what initially put the brewery on the map, but today's portfolio provides such a distinctive, flavorful, mouthwatering lineup that it’s hard to pick a favorite. Consumers seem to agree, as the demand for Central City beers continues to grow - even with a major expansion to a 65,000 square foot facility that occurred in 2013. The new state-of-the-art facility includes a full production line for beer and spirits, a canning line, tasting room, and retail store. What’s more, in 2015, Central City opened its first brewpub/restaurant in Vancouver (a hugely competitive craft brewery scene) with much success.
Even with its continued growth, Central City is committed to maintaining the level of care and attention to quality that has made them the reputable brand they are today. We hope you enjoy two of their best canned craft beer offerings. Cheers!
