Focused on embracing Wisconsin's brewing heritage
Located in historic downtown Middleton, Wisconsin, Capital Brewery has been at the forefront of the craft beer scene in America for decades. From rich and dark tasting German beers to newer, cutting-edge styles that please a wide variety of beer fans, Capital Brewery is always experimenting and refining what they offer.
The brewery got its start more than 25 years ago when founder Ed Janus, former owner of the Madison Muskies baseball team, decided he needed to bring richer, darker, more European-styled beers to the forefront in Wisconsin. He founded Capital Brewery in 1986 and brought in an experienced Brewmaster from Germany to help get things going. The public embraced the new local brewery and its success has continued to grow ever since.
Today, Capital Brewery is run by President Scott Wiener and Brewmaster Brian Destree. The two are focused on embracing Wisconsin’s brewing heritage while still moving forward. They now can three of their most popular craft beers - one of the biggest trends on the beer scene today - and currently have seventeen unique brews being made at the downtown brewery facility.
Brewmaster Brian Destree came to Capital Brewery in 2012, bringing with him years of brewing experience from Leinenkugel’s in Milwaukee and Miller Brewing. His old school brewing style proves to be the perfect fit for Capital Brewery’s rich German-style beers and American lagers. He looks forward to helping drive the growth of the company and expanding the portfolio even farther.
Capital Brewery was recently named the Grand National Champion at the 2013 United States Open Beer Championship.
