Bent River Brewing Company
Award-winning beers from the charming historic district of Moline, Illinois.
Located in the heart of the National Registered Historic District area of Moline, Illinois, Bent River Brewing Company was conceived and founded by Tim Koster in 1997. Tim was the owner of Koski’s Home Brew Fixens in Moline, and with the help of investors, made his dream of opening a brewery into a reality. He transformed the home brew store into a brewpub and had his first keg of beer flowing in 1999.
This turn of the century building that the brewery occupies is Italian Renaissance in style and offers a wonderful historic quality to Bent River Brewing Company. In 2009, the building underwent a major renovation project (while retaining its architectural integrity) and the brewery received an award for their efforts from the Moline Preservation Society. Today, this original Bent River Brewing Company location is a hugely popular neighborhood brewpub with award-winning craft beers, a great selection of pub food, and one of the coolest beer gardens in the Quad Cities region (a group of five cities straddling the Mississippi River on the Iowa-Illinois border - Davenport, Bettendorf, Rock Island, Moline, and East Moline).
In 2008, Steve Ratcliff became the Head Brewer at Bent River Brewing Company, around the same time that ownership changed and Joel Krogman became the new president of the brewery. Through their teamwork, Bent River Brewing Company has grown exponentially. In fact, they purchased a second brewing location in Rock Island, Illinois, in May 2012 that primarily serves as a distribution center. The new site includes a bottling line, shipping center, tasting room, and event center and has allowed Bent River Brewing Company to increase production while efficiently brewing and distributing throughout the region. The brewery now produces over 10,000 barrels of beer annually.
Since opening its doors, Bent River Brewing Company’s top seller has been the Uncommon Stout, but today it is joined by 9 other high quality, handcrafted beers that the brewery turns out. The ongoing goal is to produce beers that capture the spirit of traditional brewing, and the brewery garners yearly awards at brew competitions for its efforts.
We’re happy to introduce this premier Midwest brewery to our Craft Beer Club members. Enjoy!
