A father-son team crafting premium, award-winning beers
Founded in 2009 by father and son team Bob and Patrick Jensen, Argus Brewery is quickly emerging as one of Chicago, Illinois’ most popular craft breweries. Argus’
premium beers are brewed on the South Side of Chicago in the landmark Pullman District, within the historic Joseph E. Schlitz distribution stables (which dates back to the early 1900’s and once housed the Schlitz horse teams and carriages). From this unique and timeless building, that is still identified by two large terra-cotta horse heads on the parapet, the Jensens aim to create beers that challenge the best in the country, if not the world.
Bob Jensen is a Chicago native and after a two decade long career with Hub Group (a transportation management company), took an early retirement in 1999. His son, Patrick Jensen, was a beer enthusiast and found a passion for the craft brewing culture. They decided to team up and create a unique craft brewery experience - one that stood out from the crowd with an authentic Chicago attitude and world-class beers. Mentored by his father, Patrick has dabbled in all facets of the business, from brewing to delivering to working the books, and together, they have grown Argus Brewery into a very successful entity.
The Jensens are joined by Brew Master Mary Pellettieri, a renowned beverage expert with over twenty years of experience. Mary began initially at the Siebel Institute in Chicago as a chemist and microbiologist, and later as a teacher in sensory management during the 1990’s growth of craft and regional breweries. She has worked at such big name breweries as Goose Island Beer Company and MillerCoors. At Argus Brewery, it is her goal to refine and tweak each of the beers to create a line that has distinctiveness and represents the value of the brewery. The brewery is open for tours every Saturday, sharing the history of the brewery and its famous neighborhood while enjoying samples of the latest Argus beers.
