The Gottfried Krueger Brewing Company of Newark, New Jersey was the first brewery to take the chance and can beer in 1933. The beer was canned by the American Can Company, who built cans able to withstand the high pressure of pasteurization and that were internally sealed to prevent the transfer of a metallic taste from the metal can of beer. The canned beer was a huge success and by 1935, this regional brewery began claiming a percentage of the market dominated by the three large breweries (Anheuser-Bush, Pabst, and Schmitz).
2. When were aluminum beer cans first introduced?
The first all-aluminum beer cans were used by the Hawaii Brewing Company for their Primo Beer in 1958. This can was aluminum with a paper label.
