While the beer scene in the Virgin Islands is small, it is gradually growing! The Virgin Islands consist of St. John, St. Thomas, St. Croix, and a few other tiny islands in the beautiful Caribbean.
St. John Brewers is likely the most prominent brewer in the Virgin Islands. The co-owners opened their own brewing establishment in 2004, after agreeing there was a lack of tasty craft beer and respectable breweries in the Virgin Islands. Their operation and passion started after purchasing a $50 home brewing kit, which was a well-made investment seeing how far they have come with their Virgin Islands beer since.
Aside from St. John Brewers, there are bars scattered across the islands where you can get decent micro and Belgian brews, however it seems that rum and other booze dominate the drink menu.
Head over to St. Thomas, and the hot spot to visit for beer is the Virgin Islands Brewing Company, famous for their Blackbeard Ale.
To get the best experience out of your trip to the Virgin Islands, it is recommended to island hop by seaplane, and this way you can also try all the breweries and beers scattered across the several islands.
Some of the best Virgin Islands beer come from the Virgin Islands breweries:
• Frenchtown Brewing Company
• Leatherback Brewing Company
• Rock City Brewing Company
• Rum Island Pub
• St. John Brewers
• Beuchert’s Beer Garden
We have had the pleasure of featuring some of the best beers in the Virgin Islands from one of the best craft breweries in the Virgin Islands: St. John Brewers. Although we have featured craft beers made in the Virgin Islands, unfortunately we cannot ship beer to the Virgin Islands. However, we are always looking for new craft beers and breweries to add to your beer subscription boxes, and hope to have more in the near future from the producers on this tiny island chain. Cheers!
